TCLEOSE Authorware Conversion

The cancellation of the Authorware development platform meant that many organizations were left with content that they had no way of updating or modifying. To solve this problem, Hybrid Learning Systems partnered with Eduworks, Inc. to develop an automated system to convert Authorware content into next generation XML based Adobe Flash and Flex based modules. When the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards needed to have 32 lessons converted, they contacted us to do the job.

The Authorware conversion process was a two-step process: First the content was converted to XML through our automated process, and then the new content was reviewed to ensure that a one-to-one conversion was in place. By using our system, the entire group of 32 lessons, over 40 hours of content, was converted and completed in three months - a fraction of the time and cost it would have taken to convert using traditional methods. The new lessons were screen-for-screen identical to the existing content and were even adjusted to run on both high and low bandwidth networks. Furthermore, all of the generated source code was in standard XML that could be edited in a wide variety of editing tools ensuring that the converted content would be useable for a long time to come.
